Trip Planning and Travel Blogging - RealTravel.com

RealTravel.com Thumb

There’s a really well thought out website, RealTravel.com, where they offer users travel blogging and trip planner software.

I’ve signed up as harmonylastic. I will enter a blog entry about my trip to the beach and try to give some advice about staying there.

If you are a world traveler, it’s a nice place to share your experiences. And if you are just beginning, it’s also a great place to get friendly and free advice on where you are going. As there is also a well moderated forum to ask questions.

If you’ve travelled to Algeria, I urge you to sign up and submit some blog entries about this country. There is a lot of misinformation out there about travelling to Algeria. It’d be great to see more people blogging about thier experiences here.

And as always, as any good travel website would have it, RealTravel.com offers search functionality for finding the best deals on the web.

If you use the site, please report back your experiences with it.

International Travel Health Insurance - AllAboardBenefits.com

All Aboard Benefits

If you don’t have health insurance and are traveling abroad, you may need to get international travel health insurance to obtain a visa for your host country.

Back, while living in the US, my hubby wanted to travel to Europe. It is typically difficult for Algerians to get visas to travel abroad. Having a US green card makes it a bit easier to obtain a visa. However, with this option he was also required to get proof of health insurance.

Anyway, AllAboardBenefits.com does offer several travel insurance plans for international travellers as well as trip cancellation insurance(which may interest you even if you are not in need of medical insurance).

Mumps Outbreak in Algeria

I was browsing top news headlines last night. And I saw a photo of a young boy with a swollen face. It was accompanied by a headline about a mumps outbreak in Canada. I clicked and read and searched for more photos. Well, now I realize this is what my son, 6, and daughter, 18 months, had in April. My son was really affected and my daughter, mildly. The treatment prescribed was for them to get plenty of rest, control thier temperature and administer anti-inflammatory medications. The doctor told me it is particulary dangerous for boys, for if thier temperature gets high enough, it can sterilize them, preventing them from having babies in the future. So the word she used to describe thier infection was ‘oreillons’, and now I know that is ‘mumps’ in French. So, the lesson here is to make sure you are vaccinated before you travel to Algeria. If you have questions, leave a comment.

Traveling to Paris?

Harmony in Paris Paris Paris Mosque Paris Apartments Paris Eiffel Tower

I had the great pleasure of vacationing in Paris for the New Year. It was so beautiful! No surprise there. I stayed with my husband’s cousin, who, of course, is Algerian. She was wonderful. Really, the best hostest ever! While staying with her, I discovered a whole Algerian community. Which totally blew me away. I didn’t realize there was such a large Algerian population in Paris. It was like AlgeriaLand. I had the pleasure of visiting some of her in-laws there. And they totally imported the Algerian style into thier homes and dress. Ahhh… but my visit made me miss all the wonderful amenities of a truley modern society. Such wonderful food, wonderful transportation system, find anything you like or need. So simple yet so far from Algerian life. Anyway, the photos above are from my trip. It truley was an amazing experience. Very old beautiful buildings everywhere. And I found the people very helpful.

So if you are looking to travel to Paris anytime soon, you can check on accomadations at this site. If you click on thier Paris Tourist Attractions, each attraction lists the accomodations closest to it. BIG TIP: If you plan your vacation just right, you’ll have a chance to take advantage of Paris’ free museum admission day, which is the first Sunday of each month. Have fun! And let me know about your excursion in lovely Paris! Chow!
